How much does your weekly food shop cost?

We are first time buyers and just trying to get my head around how much I realistically expect to spend each week on food. We will do a big 'staple' shop that I have budgeted £500 for so we are talking werkly fresh good.

I know it is going to vary hugely person to person, depending on their lifestyle habits (i.e. quick rrady meals vs meals made from scratch) but that is why I am asking on here to get a wide range of opinions.

So would be so helpful if people can say how much thry spend and the sort of meals that covers, and is that 3 meals a day etc.

It is just the 2 of us, so I am probably in the minority on this forum!

We usually spend around £350 on food shopping. Not including eating out, alcohol or household/ toiletries.

Around £15 per week at the butchers (we eat meat every day)

£50-£60 at asda which includes all cleaning products and toiletries for 2 adults. It covers all 3 meals everyday, we take pack up to work rather than buying lunch out.

I cook from scratch every day. Meals we usually have are
Roast dinner
Stew
Chilli and rice
Curry and rice
Spag bol
Kebab and chips
Cheese burger and chips
Meatballs and spaghetti
Bangers and mash

2 adults and 1 infant. At the beginning of the month I replenish everything at a cost of about £100. I then get fortnightly veg boxes at £12.75 each, and do a weekly shop that's usually around £40-50.

Anything between £15 and £60/week.
Me and DS13. I tend to meal plan but do a bigger shop at the beginning of the month and then smaller shops other weeks. That's breakfast, lunches for school/work and evening meal. Will eat out once or twice a month and have a takeaway first Friday of every month as a treat

Thank you all :-) mega helpful. I was budgeting £400 a month for all food (fresh and staple) plus household bits and bobs. But we were factoring wine and spirits into that which probably puts it up!

Two of us, and a little dog.
Our food shops cover most stuff, so food, toiletries, alcohol (maybe a crate of beer every month or so, and a bottle of wine every couple of weeks) and cleaning gear etc.
I tend to cook from scratch and I try to be as healthy as possible, but we do eat a lot of meat and fish (as in we never have a veggie tea!!). It also covers our lunches; DP in a seriously manual job and salads for me.
Approx £80 every two weeks with a £20 weekly top up.

I find that our food bill is a movable feast so to speak. Obviously there is a minimum we can get away with but if we have a big expense I can cut back for a week or two , mainly because I keep well stocked with staples. Entertaining adds on a lot and we love having people over - we can easilyspend £100 a month feeding family and various other hangers on!

I think £400 a month with a £500 initial stock pile will be comfortable for the two of you.
