I have some in the freezer and want to make fish pie tonight. Can I cook the salmon in foil parcels and then add to my cooked pie later?

course you can. or if you're feeling spectacularly lazy you could put in it a covered bowl with some lemon slices in the microwave. athough if you're making the pie tonight can't you just defrost it?

tracyk · 29/05/2007 13:51

It won't defrost in time will it? I'll be making the pie at around 4.30.

chuck it in sink full of water (in wrapper)

will be defrosted by 4.30

You can cook salmon in the oven straight from frozen. We do it all the time.

I cook it feom frozen in the microwave (but only if I'm flaking it into somehting otherwise it tends to be a little overcooked IME)

TyrannosaurusRex · 29/05/2007 13:59

i think i'd just leave it out to defrost then break it up and chuck it in half-frozen...

MamaG · 29/05/2007 14:00

i agree kew

chuck it in the sink

TyrannosaurusRex · 29/05/2007 14:03

i disagree, kew and mamag, it's only overcooked if you overcook it. i did a salmon steak in the micro with lemon and parsley for dd's lunch, took 2 mins from frozen and was delicious. you want to take it out before it's totally cooked, imo, and the heat continues to cook through the thickest parts. although for a fish pie i'd just put it in partially defrosted. chucking it in the sink is a bit gross.

MamaG · 29/05/2007 14:03

Not if you've got a lovely clean sink like I have

FRAEK

I am far too disorganised to cook it for the correct time
