Hi :)
I'm not too bad a cook but I've never cooked (and haven't eaten too often either) a "British" Sunday roast and there are so many different recipes / ideas online.

Could you please recommend
some 'easy' crowd pleasers? And what about those trimmings?

Or maybe other "Sunday roast-y" dishes/ substitutes that wouldn't be disappointing?

TIA

Do you actually want to do one or do you feel under pressure to do so?

When the weather is warmer we tend to do roasts less and BBQ more - so why not do steak, baked potatoes, bbq roast veg and salad

This is my all time favourite for family gatherings. The quantities are easily multiplied. It's so easy yet extremely tasty, I can understand why it has over 200 5-star reviews. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/10052/spring-chicken-in-a-pot

Under pressure. But I'm determined to feed them adequately. And we eat really differently than what my spouse was used to when he was little (he says). And considering they're staying a little? I thought I might at least get one meal right.

Good idea. Might be better for a hot day anyway. You wouldn't find it strange to have the in the evening?

@Ricekrispie22

Thanks :)!

This sounds and looks great (and I'm definitely bookmarking it) but idk whether it's a bit "too simple" for this occasion.

But I bookmarked it and I'm planning to try it. Thanks :)

This is SO easy and delicious. I don't eat meat any more but used to trot this out on Sundays when I did

We do this one every time we have guests. Easy to prepare, then bung in the oven - job done. DH did it when my mum came round, and now she's nicked the recipe as her own!

How about roasting a gammon? I find it a lot more forgiving than other meats, less likely to dry out like chicken and you don’t have to worry about catering for people who like things pink or well done. If you have a pressure cooker it makes it even easier, cook in that then paint on some honey And whole grain mustard and finish off in the oven.
Serve with roast potatoes, swede and carrot mash, broccoli and green beans.

@MabeyBabey nope I wouldn't find it strange to have that in the evening - we do it all the time and very rarely have big things like roasts during the day - if we have a Sunday roast then we serve it in the evening, not at lunchtime because a) we normally have too much going on during the day and b) if I eat that much food at lunchtime then I will sleep for the rest of the day!

Put a shoulder of lamb in the oven before you go to bed. Cover with foil, season and add rosemary and garlic. Put on 50 degrees.

When you get up, uncover and slow ramp the temp up until it's crispy. Take out and leave to rest. This means cooking the potatoes and veg is less stressful! The lamb will fall off the bone and taste delicious
