We've been doing lots of daytrips this half term and I'm losing my mojo for packed lunches. Please share what you put in yours.

Pasta salads (tuna, mayo, sweet corn/Ham and cucumber) and orzo pasta with chorizo, chopped peppers and bits go down well. We do take paper plates and cutlery though as it's not finger food. If it's finger food you want what about cold chicken nuggets or cold pizza? Cold sausages, tortilla wraps? My kids also like tortilla wraps folded in half with a little ketchup and grated cheese in then toasted in a panini press. They go lovely and crispy and stay crisp when cold.

I get a rotisserie chicken or chicken drumsticks, potato salad, a punnet of cherry tomatoes, a baguette, and either satsumas or apples and that’s us good to go

ham sandwiches, yoyos, cold ssg rolls, tangerines, pepperami.
They get very upset if I suggest anything else.

Falafel and pitas are brill for picnics as they are pretty robust ditto fritata.
Other wise a French stick (break/cut when ready to eat) nice cheeses, grapes, olives, celery and pickles. Particularly good for lingering picnics!

I do big batches of muffins - carrot muffins our favourite, but often bran/banana muffins. I freeze them and stick however many I need in the bag before we leave to defrost.
Meat sticks always go down well as a treat. Ditto, babybels (or, bizarrely, chunks of blue cheese for DS).
we tend to stick to normal sandwiches - children aren't huge fans or wraps etc. So I try to add stuff to make it interesting.

DS (7) will also quite happily eat "salad" - feta, cucumber and lettuce with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and both kids love avocados so I either make avocado sandwiches or take avocado along to cut into chunks on a picnic.

My DC eat anything healthy if it's stuck on a skewer!
So I just load up kebab sticks with things like chunks of cheese, cherry tomatoes, rolled up ham, olives, chunks of cooked chicken, slices of sausage, cubes of bread, colourful peppers etc... like the pictures.
I do the same with sweet food such as grapes, berries, mini marshmallows, cubes of malt loaf, dried apricots, pineapple chunks, cubes of brioche, flapjack bites etc...
