What other cereals can I give my young toddler?

Sorry - wasn't sure where else to post and didn't seem right in parenting Confused

DS is nearly 15 months old. For breakfast, he eats a lot of porridge and Oatabix. Aside from that, he only really eats Cheerios in terms of cereal and I'd like to expand a bit.

He liked Shredded Wheat but they didn't agree with him (constipated/straining for days then massive explosions, same with normal Weetabix, hence the Oatabix). With the summer coming, porridge seems a bit heavy every day, and Oatabix are expensive (doesn't seem to be any own-brand versions anywhere??)

I've tried him with Cornflakes, Rice Krispies and Multivitamin Stars, all of which he wasn't keen on. He does have toast/crumpets but it'd be great to have another cereal option for him as well, just for something quick/easy to give him some mornings.

Only seems to be chocolate cereal left Hmm and ideas/suggestions on what other cereals I could try him with?

Thanks!

My DD likes: porridge oats finely ground in good processor, mixed with grated apple/pear and soaked overnight in apple juice. Then add a dollop of natural yogurt before eating. We grind up oats in bigger batches and keep in a tupperware.

Porridge is far healthier than any of the cereals mentioned here though. Agree with the poster who said that you don't need to think of breakfast in terms of cereal (most full of sugar and not very filling).
Frosties and coco pops? Might as well just hand over a bar of chocolate.

Overnight oats with fruit is a good suggestion.

Thats true Delatron. You could do things like avocado, tomato, the odd slice of ham, cheese etc. Melon will be in season soon too :)

Some people have avocado on toast, that’s healthy isn’t it, especially if you use wholemeal bread.

Years ago on holiday in Turkey we had delicious breakfasts of pitta bread, feta cheese, cucumber, tomato and boiled egg. Not the kind of thing we’d usually think of as breakfast but it was perfect in the warm weather.

Have you tried Gerber toddler cereal? My kids love them and also it's nutritious

We give our 3 overnight oats. Buy a variety of frozen fruit to add. Mixed berries works really well. I don’t add honey. But sometimes add raisins and nuts. You could put in chia seeds too. I just mix the oats with milk add frozen fruit and leave overnight, sometimes it’s purple in the morning!

I’m trying to avoid buying cereal with added sugar whilst they are small. It’ll happen eventually without my encouragement!

Omelettes? Ds won’t eat eggs except in omelettes.

Frittata, cooked the day before and chopped into slices.

Cheese, olives, sliced tomatoes and cucumber.

On the back of this thread, I made muesli last night so give to DS this morning. He LOVED it! He couldn't get it in quick enough and when I wasn't fast enough to load the spoon for him, he started shovelling it in with his hands Grin so safe to say it was a huge hit! So, so easy to prepare as well and I also had a small bowl. It was lovely.

I'm also going to try porridge fingers (rapsberry and coconut flavour) over the weekend, plus a batch a pancakes to freeze. Thanks so much again for the suggestions :)
