Chicken curry recipe for kids

Hi

My kids are normal kids type fussy; not extra especially fussy. Just the run of the mill not keen to try new tastes, more likely to eat something new at school than with me and often decide they don't like something just by the look of things Grin

They like rice.

I've got myself into a rut of only cooking a few things that I know they will eat. I make a great curry, not always hot, but I don't think I have a recipe they would eat. Does anyone have a recipe they would recommend as a start?

Annabel Karmel Chicken & Apricot Korma, has coconut milk in it too so you can tone the spice up/down.

I use quite a sweet ish curry paste, like a katsu one, and lots of coconut milk. Pieces of chicken and sometimes peas, broccoli or other veg they like. Then I fry up garlic, onions and chillies and add that to mine and DH's portions.

My kids like 'chicken korma' so I just say that curries are that and they are quite happy. DS aged 10 will try other curries in restaurants but DD aged 8 is loyal to korma.

I had also a hard time feeding my kids because they are a picky eater. I usually cook Slow Cooker Pork Chops and they really like it. In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, chicken broth, garlic, paprika, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, oregano, and basil. Pour into the slow cooker. Cut small slits in each pork chop with the tip of a knife, and season lightly with salt and pepper. Place pork chops into the slow cooker, cover, and cook on High for 4 hours. Baste periodically with the sauce.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try all of these. Lost my cooking mojo recently and really need to get it back

I’ve just added a marsh curry recipe on a different post. Mine love it and the oldest at least is really fussy.

Another they love is the following:

Fry 400g chicken thigh fillets until brown
(You can add garlic, ginger and onion if they will eat these - my eldest wouldn’t EnvyHmmConfused
Add dessert spoon of mild curry powder and fry until fragrant
Add chicken stock (300ml)
Leave to simmer for 45 mins until thickened
Add some double cream

And serve. It’s basically really mild and creamy and yummy. If they like it you can add medium curry powder as they get older Smile

My lot are averagely fussy, but eat butter chicken, cinnamon lamb curry, chickpea curry and mango paneer. I generally use Meera Sodha recipes and they’re not hot.

I love curry so trying to train them to like it too!

I make a lovely butter chicken in the slow cooker that even DD likes and she is very fussy about spicy food.
