Meals for physically demanding job

My DH has changed jobs in the past year to a really physically active job and although he is more than happy to cook and shop it generally falls to me as I work less hours. I need to lose weight Grin he needs lots of calories and I have 2 DD to feed. Can anyone help with rib sticking meal ideas or ways to get the calories into his food and not mine! I know I can make his portions bigger etc but any other ideas tips gratefully received for main meals and lunches.

He needs a lot of protein OP....that's the main thing when you're working in a physically demanding job.

Meat....lean meat, rice, lentils, pasta and cheese.

If you're packing him lunches, I would make too much of each evening meal and get him a hot food flask. That's what my DH has....

Thanks I think I definitely need to add to his portions with the protein and I think he needs more food in the day. He does his own lunches but I don’t think he eats enough he could probably do with a couple of healthy but high calorie snacks. He is looking a bit too skinny!

Could you make him some flapjacks for his lunch box, pack with nuts and seeds.
Look at adding sides to meals for him. Things like garlic bread, samosas and Naan bread. Guacamole, cheese, sour cream on fajitas. Oil based dressings for salad (add balsamic to yours). Add nuts to his stirfry.

Hard boiled eggs are good as are avocados. Raw nuts...mixed ones with no salt.

Some good ideas I think making a big batch of flap jacks would be useful and he could take hard boiled eggs to munch on during the day. I like the sides idea too he could have a nice big naan with our curry or pitta with stir fry when I make those. I put some boiled potatoes in last nights curry in chunks and he had most of those.

Peanut butter, either in a sandwich or make satay chicken. Nuts are generally quite high in fat and protein so ideal, he could just add some to his existing lunch and maybe a couple of small cheese portions.

Cornish pasties were invented for just this reason - traditionally with jam at one end.
