What are you feeding your family at Easter?

I would like to know what people are planning on feeding their family on Easter Sunday. We always have a nice meal, in our family the day was a bit like a mini Christmas. This year I’m cooking for eight people, including one child. I can’t decide if I should go down the traditional roast route, or do a cold meal. Please please, give me 8nspiration!

We used to have lamb every Easter, but we've started to cut back on eating red meat so I'm hoping to make a leek and Parmesan tart.

We are having a local chef make our lunch and I'll cook it at home. I love cooking but the mess is always unbareable.
so we are having a prawn bisque with smoked prawns and black bream. I've just got to warm soup & add fish to cook through
Beef welly
Blood orange sorbet
I've also ordered a crab tart for evening snack

gotta be the tradiotnal lamb roast.
yes it is here like a mini xmas,we love it.and its tradition.everyone loves coming home(wayward simblings) for mums good roast.
if they are staying the whole day we would then just offer cold sandwhich tea or scones.but deff the hot dinner.
do you want to do a roast
or looking for a crowd pleaser like a big beef and ale stew and dumpling.
a fish pie.lasagne
a roast isn't hard.once the prepper veg etc is done its more putting together and timing.
other things you can prepare then cook in advance.
do you know what they want?requests/
if your doing cold what were you thinking.cold meat sanwhiches.
lots of platter meats with butter and French stick and baps?
pastry sheets with various toppings
shephards pie or hotpot
savoury crumble
veggie meddleys.
some saldie bit like pasta or couscous.olive.feta.big salad.
eton mess for pud or a big crumble.
crème egg bread and butter pudding or mini egg decoated choc nexts or cupcakes.
treacle sponge
lemon mirangue pie(green packet mix)

all of these weve done in past.but roast wins supreme.
what do you fancy.it will make it easier to get enthused at doing if you want it yourself :)

so we have lamb.onion sauce.roast potatos.carrots,brocoli.peas(younger kids usually like peas lol)gravy mint sauce.some roast red onion and pasnip and sweet potatos.
for pudding we are doing either crumble.eton mess.lemon mirangue pie.
the kids love either making or having cornflakes nest to snakc on throughout the day (kids we're all grown up adults now and still love making or asking for them!)

a fish pie.lasagne

That sounds utterly disgusting.

dissapointedafternoon · 24/03/2018 14:31

@TittyGolightly Confused

Crispbutty · 24/03/2018 14:34

Seafood lasagne can be amazing.

TittyGolightly · 24/03/2018 14:52

With ragu and cheese sauce?

Yacka · 24/03/2018 17:03

Has to be a lamb. Let or shoulder cooked in olive oil and tinned tomatoes and olives and capers. In a casserole dish with garlic and onions. Put it in first thing and leave it.

Then do some cold meats and coleslaw like a mini buffet. But use a deep fryer to put tinned new potatoes in. The crisp up lovely and once done after a few mins add chives and a side of sour cream.

Yacka · 24/03/2018 17:03

Doh leg of lamb not let Blush

Crispbutty · 24/03/2018 18:58

You don’t put ragu in, you would put a tarragon sauce in it :) “lasagne” is just the name of the pasta itself really.
