Rocket lollies make my DS bounce off the walls...any good recipes for homemade ice-lollies?

Rocket lollies, Fruitinis and the like make my DS totally wired and hyper so (without getting all Annabel Karmel) I was wondering whether I should have a crack at making my own fruit lollies. I know they've got to contain a bit of sugar/honey to make them taste nice (not too bothered about that) but I want to avoid any artificial colourings/flavourings. Any recipes gratefully received!

Fresh apple juice is yummy - reminds me of cider lollies, in fact I think most fresh fruit juices will work.

or diluted squash

Plain yogurt with mashed up banana and sweetened with honey. Also works well with most berry fruits

Cut a small slit in the lid of a petite filous and insert lolly stick, bung in freezer et voila a frozen yoghurt on a stick.

CoV - you're a genius

I have one of these
lick and sip and put in any sort of fruit juice (I never added any sugar).

DrippingLizzie · 04/05/2007 14:21

Gin - doh! That's what I need in my bloody lollies

I just get a bag of frozen berries, whizz up, sometimes add a bit of water or lemonade and freeze.

willywonka · 04/05/2007 14:22

Hey DL - don't defrost the rockets. Just because they send ds doolally doesn't mean that you can't enjoy their sugary, chemical nonsense does it?

DrippingLizzie · 04/05/2007 14:25

Great idea, WW...I'm going to eat 5 rocket lollies right now, get totally wired and tell all the gossiping mums at the school gates to fuck off and die when I collect DS at 3pm.

Make smoothie and freeze. Very nice.

willywonka · 04/05/2007 14:28

Looking forward to the imminent "Help! I've shamed myself at the school gate thread..." then !!!

DeviousDaffodil · 04/05/2007 14:30

Agree CoC. In ffrance they sell little lolly sticks with the fromage frais to do judt that.
Orange juice freezes well too.

DrippingLizzie · 04/05/2007 14:50

innocent smoothies make wicked lollies
mix the coconut one with the mango one and add some rum - yum! for grownups...

MrsBadger · 04/05/2007 15:18

just use fruit juice - doesn't need sweetening.

ZipadiSuzy · 04/05/2007 15:24

We use the Juice fruit then freeze it! good luck

ZipadiSuzy · 04/05/2007 15:25

I meant Juicer

ZipadiSuzy · 04/05/2007 15:26

Tongue tied, you know what I mean anyway

champs · 04/05/2007 15:54

we use squash, fruitjuces, milkshakes,, yogurt, lemonade mixed in with sqush or juice makes nice fizzy sparkling lollies.

frozen jelly pops are a weird but nice treat.

mytwocentsworth!! that lolly mix sounds divine!!

rantinghousewife · 04/05/2007 16:08

Can of unsweetened mango slices, dollop of yoghurt, dash of honey. In liquidiser, voila!!

willywonka · 04/05/2007 16:11

Must second RHW's suggestion cos that exact recipe is an age old favourite at the Wonka Factory.

laundrylover · 04/05/2007 16:20

Yeo Valley do tubes of strawberry yogurt which are great for freezing. Keep their little hands cold too- brrr when they come and warm them up your top.

Sprogstersmum · 06/05/2007 12:04

DD loves ones made from tinned peaches (the ones in water) just pureed and frozen - I don't add anything else.

fortyplus · 06/05/2007 12:06

Stick a spoon in a tub of fromage frais and freeze it. Then you just have to dip it in hot water to slide the pot off.
