Is it possible to get natural black and green food colouring?

Unfortunately he (ds1, whose birthdat cake it is for) doesn't like liquorice or mint.

But nettle or spinach icing, maybe...

I don't think spinach icing would actually taste of spinach. If you boiled some spinach you could use the green water that you get when you drain it to colour the icing (perhaps reduce it in a saucepan because you don't want too much liquid for icing). I bet the sweetness of the icing sugar would easily outweigh any spinachyness.

I'm almost tempted to go and make some myself now.
