Have a look at the ingredients. I think it's mostly sugar. I'd rather make milkshakes.

I have seen in one of those nutritional programs on TV that they are not as good as we are made to believe, they have a lot of friendly bacteria but LOTS of sugar as well, so maybe not the best for such a small baby. I would ring the HV/GP and talk about possible alternatives.

you can buy friendly bacteria in a powder form that is especially made for babies and toddlers...they have different bacteria in their tummies than adults. its called Solgar ABCdophilus and you can get it in a good health shop (H&B dont do it), or online at www.solgar.co.uk or www.nutricentre.com (or lots of others, do a google search).
you add tip of teaspoon of powder to cold milk/drink/food.

I have read that they are not suitable for children under three.I can't remember where I read it but I recall it because my dd loved them but they used to give her an upset tummy and I realised the Actimel was the most likliest cause.

gloworm, thanks for all the fantastic advice you freely give out here. It's great to have someone so knowledgeable about alternative remedies for littlies. I quailed a bit when I saw further up the threads that you said acidophilus wasn't suitable for babies, and now I see I have bought one that is that you must have previously recommended.

Have you tried soya forumla? Or a non-cows milk formula?

You can buy soya milk, rice milk (quite sugary) and oat milk from most health food shops. IMO none of them taste like cows milk, so maybe give them a go with him.

just read the thread and someone said about not suitable for children under three im a bad mummy my ds 11 months has a mouth full of mine once a week otherwise i got him sitting there and staring at me he only does it on a saturday i think he sees it as mummys and his treat havent seen any problems so im hopeing one little mouthful a week wont do him any harm

I've used the stuff that gloworm mentions (was recommended by nutrionist friend of mine). is very good and seemed to work in terms of rebuilding immune system. Same friend (nutrionnist) did say that actimel and similar are not great because of the sugar
