How do YOU make tuna mayo?

I was just making myself some lunch and realised I don't add vinegar or pepper like my mother does. Is that common? Mine is literally a can of drained tuna and some mayo.

Salt, pepper, tuna, vinegar, mayo. Sometimes add sweet corn if DS is so inclined, or basil. I have added sundried tomato paste before and that's nice too.

Celery works so well in tuna mousse (tuna, mayo, eggs, cheese and celery baked) I have never thought of putting some in tuna mayo.

Ketchup, mayo (equal parts) either thin chopped red onion and peppers or sweetcorn

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/02/2018 12:56

Tuna in spring water only; drain, add to enough mayo to upset DH who thinks I use too much. Possibly a little bit of paprika or when adventurous, cayenne pepper. Sometimes a tin of sweetcorn.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 27/02/2018 12:56

Tuna, mayo, squirt of salad cream and sometimes a dollop of horseradish sauce. Sounds weird but totally works! And a squeeze of lemon juice.

ReinettePompadour · 27/02/2018 12:56

No, no, no, no, no! Tuna mayo is tuna and mayonnaise. There really is no need to add anything else. Adding extra stuff makes it 'tuna and other stuff' and absolutely not tuna and mayonnaise. Hmm

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 27/02/2018 12:57

Tuna and mayo and nothing else is grim. It needs ketchup in it. Same as egg mayo needs salad cream in it.

Justonedayatatime11 · 27/02/2018 12:58

Tuna, salt and pepper, salad cream and some sweetcorn. Lovely!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/02/2018 12:58

Drained canned tuna, mayonnaise, and cooked, cooled sweetcorn (not canned). Nothing else.

snewsname · 27/02/2018 12:59

I was brought up with vinegar and black pepper with tuna in oil. No mayo.
With the brine or spring water tuna, vinegar isn't enough on its own and needs jazzing up.

WhyBeDennyDifferent · 27/02/2018 12:59

Oh my poor DS. I hate tuna but he loves it. All I ever do is mix tuna and mayo.
I had no idea there was this much possibility!

halfwitpicker · 27/02/2018 12:59

Standard issue here too op. Literally tuna and mayo.

If I'm feeling wild I add grated red onion, grated cheddar and finely chopped red pepper. Twist of pepper and you're done.

Tunnocksmallow · 27/02/2018 13:06

Tuna (in brine), dollop of salad cream, dollop of mayo, fresh ground black pepper, sometimes a dash of vinegar. Mix up, job’s a good un.
Best on white bread with cheese and onion crisps. Mmmmm

MadAssHatter · 27/02/2018 13:07

Tuna + Mayo. Any other additions and it's not tuna mayo by definition. I get the rage when I buy a tuna mayo sandwich and it's got other stuff hidden in it like sweet corn or onion. Yuck!

meandmytinfoilhat · 27/02/2018 13:10

Half yoghurt, half mayo, diced cucumber, diced onion and diced peppers

Minestheoneinthegreen · 27/02/2018 13:11

Either:
Tuna with sufficient mayo for thickly spreadable consistency, or,
Tuna with shit loads of malt vinegar and black pepper. Needs to be enough vinegar to make the bread soggy.

CakeNinja · 27/02/2018 13:12

Tuna, mayo, spring onion, salt. Chopped red pepper aswell if dd1 is having it.
Butter sandwich (If I’m taking it to work as it provides a waterproof barrier so the mayonnaise doesn’t seep into the bread making it soggy), spread mixture onto the bread, top with sliced cucumber (butter also protects the top layer of bread going mushy from the liquid in the cucumber!) top with other piece of bread. Always good granary bread for this sandwich.
I imagine the butter will be controversial but I don’t use it if I’m making it to eat at the time!

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 27/02/2018 13:12

I like it with half mayo half salad cream. Sometimes I'll add stuff like swertcorn, onion and peppers.

BabloHoney · 27/02/2018 13:13

I add some mashed avocado to the tuna and mayo which tastes delicious but you have to eat it with your eyes closed as it turns a lovely green colour 🙈

stressedoutfred · 27/02/2018 13:14

I don't eat it but my DS1 likes it occasionally. He likes Tuna, sweetcorn, mayo, red onion and sliced cucumber

Buxbaum · 27/02/2018 13:17

Celery salt instead of normal salt is lovely in tuna mayo.

iklboo · 27/02/2018 13:20

1/2 teaspoon of English mustard in mine. Really adds flavour.

WaxOnFeckOff · 27/02/2018 13:21

Tuna in sunflower oil, drained, add in a grind of sea salt and black pepper and some lemon juice, then add mayo, combine ingredients/mix up then beat with a fork.

Twofishfingers · 27/02/2018 13:22

Celery chopped in really small cubes, green onions, mayo, salt, pepper.

tigercub50 · 27/02/2018 13:24

Tuna in oil ( drained), mayo & lots of black pepper. I sometimes put sweet corn in too
