Hi, I'm new to all this. My little boy is under a dietian anf is putting on weight slowly. I try with making his food more high calorie by adding to food to make it high calorie. I try to do new meals but its so hard to think of new meals but I just dont feel as if I have the time to make anything fresh. But just lately hes been really fussy and ive been offering him alternatives at meal times but does't want them. Im worried he is going to lode weight which I dont want. How do you all other mums do it?? I feel as if im failing him

Can you list his likes and dislikes?

Pandapop151 · 24/02/2018 20:12

Likes:- any veg, bananas, grapes, Spag Bol, ham, bread (on and off), he drinks the fruit smoothie pouches, likes fish fingers, potatoes, cheese, likes sweet thinga but then what person doesnt lol, chicken, baked beans, toast. He is on and off with most of these things but i dont know if its because I stick near enough to the same meals, i look at new things to cook but feel as if I have the time to do it then i bottle it and do something easy for me to cook and thats quick.

Dislikes: - egg not a fan.

Why is he under a dietician? Has the dietician suggested any meals or anything that he is missing from his diet?

Sounds to me more like an issue with not knowing what meals to cook or maybe even just not getting on and making a meal rather than him being fussy.

RafikiIsTheBest · 24/02/2018 21:18

Also how old is he?

Often with some children, it really helps if they can be as involved as possible in making their meals. Can he help come up with meal ideas (using the internet, maybe google meal ideas or something), helping with a shopping list and shopping for the ingredients and then with actually making it?

If he eats fishfingers how about making your own fishcakes?
How is he with sauces? Maybe try cauliflower cheese or macaroni cheese.
Chicken skewers
Will he eat nuts? They are a great way of boosting calories.
Chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon.
I’m interested in why you think he’s fussy, you’ve only mentioned egg as something he doesn’t like.

My sons the same. He's on and off things all the time.
He's on mess for ADHD so doesn't have much of an appetite.
I tend to load things with cheese and butter to up the calories.
I make home made pasta sauce with lots of veg and blend it.
Tonight he had mash ( lots of butter and cheese mixed in) peas, sweet corn and crusty bread with butter.

How old is he? Is he under a dietician due to slow growth?

As others have said, he doesn't sound that fussy.
