unripe pears - can I cook them?

I have some pears which aren't ripe yet, however they have some bad patches on them where DS1 & DS2 dropped them on the floor. Is there anything I can cook with them now in a unripe state? I'm worried I'll have to bin the lot if I do use them soon

I was going to say poach them in red wine too - but I won't now! They are also lovely poached in cider. Or, I suppose - though I haven't tried - in apple juice.

califrau, it's a classic 1970's dinner party recipe, very Abigail's Party. If my mum wasnt poaching pears she was whipping up a lemon meringue pie or a charlotte russe

delia

Pear crumble please. If I'm going to suggest it and you make it I have to have some...thank you.

I keep reading the title of this thread as 'URINE pears'

I need to go to bed...[confused smiley]

Mmmmmm...was it baked cheescake califrau? Dense, moist, proper, not the 'mousse and jam on a biscuit' that passes for cheesecake now.

If you've still got them and haven't cooked them yet pop them in a paper bag with a banana. They'll be ripe in no time.
