Dairy free dessert to take to a friend’s party

Really stuck for ideas and would welcome suggestions. Going to a friend’s house for her DHs birthday on Saturday night. Around 15-20 people in total. I’ve offered to bring dessert.
I’m going to make a chocolate cheesecake at their request. I’d also like to take a dairy free dessert so their (dairy and tree nut allergic) daughters can have any leftovers.
Was wondering about a coconut cream based pudding, or a cake of some kind, but I can’t find anything very inspiring.
Would be great if it was an easy crowd pleaser... surely not asking too much?!
Any ideas gratefully received!

Nigella - I have no idea who Igella is! Thanks for making me look like an idiot, iPad! Blush

Have a look at Minimalist Baker’s blog. Her one bowl chocolate cake is the best chocolate cake I’ve ever made.

Most Jus-Rol pastry is vegan if you wanted to make anything with pastry.

Also, I can recommend Ms Cupcake's recipes. She's a vegan baker and her recipes are awesome!

Jus-rol pastry or Aldi pastry are dairy free.
Meringues and jam
Look in the kosher section of the supermarket for dairy free ice cream etc.
Carrot cake recipes are usually dairy free as long as you substitute the cheese frosting for water icing.

Dairy and nut free... not vegan.. so eggs are fine.... almonds (Nigella's and minimalist baker's cakes) are not!!

We have been dairy free for years and I am not a fan of coconut cream but they might be. Depending on the ages of the children, chocolate moose could be a hit. (Eggs and, dark dairy free chocolate). 30g of chocolate and one egg per person.

Derail but why do so many people think eggs are dairy?!

BlimeyO · 04/02/2018 00:25

No problem with eggs, thankfully, so I can follow Mary Berry’s older cake recipes with a “cooking” margarine. The issue is only dairy, ie. milk products, and also tree nuts.
I made meringue and tried to whip coconut cream to go with it, but failed miserably so served it with fruit and coconut yogurt. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. If anyone has any more it would be great to hear. Also if anyone has had any success whipping coconut cream!

blimeyO I saw today you can now get condensed coconut milk.which according to the review makes gorgeous caramel.(she even spooned it out can!) so this might help with some scrummy dessert dairy free with toffee caramelie sauce.millionaire shortbread type things etc.

Is it wrong that I now want to get a can of condensed coconut milk and eat it slowly with a teaspoon?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius if we share a can between us would that make it ok?
