Pop it yourself very easy. Big fruit cakes as well always go down well. Malt loaf, banana bread

Twiglett · 28/04/2007 12:03

contact the council re allotments

and how about fruit muffins

colditz · 28/04/2007 12:04

PB is peanut butter - it's not that dear anyway.

Flapjacks are lovely with raisins in too.

lulumama · 28/04/2007 12:04

peanut butter

mini pitta bread with hummous, or carrot sticks to dip in

Lullabyloo · 28/04/2007 12:07

rice cakes
homemade cheese straws
homemade cereal bars

wheresthehamster · 28/04/2007 12:55

Cheddar crisps - so simple the children can make them.

I pass these off as my own invention but I stole the recipe from the Telegraph many years ago.

4oz of finely grated cheese and 4 rounded teaspoons of plain flour mixed up and spooned onto a greaseproof papered baking tray in small circles (each approx 5cm wide and 2mm deep).
Cook at 230deg for about 5 mins or until edges are golden.
Lift off carefully and ENJOY!

The above should make about 20 crisps.

Excellent ideas from you guys, thanks very much!

I don't live in England...an island nearer France..can anyone guess??...lol i'm pretty certain they don't have allotments here, i've not heard of any...but will def ask about.

Popcorn is fantastic
Heavy pan you don't mind getting burned (until you get the knack, you might burn some)
Veg oil in bottom, heat on high
Add corn
lid on, leave to cook, when popping starts shake pan a bit
repeat until popping stops
Then you can melt butter, pour over and chuck some salt in btu that's not healthy

I like those yeast flakes you can buy in health food shops (Engevita or similar) for b-vits, tastes a bit cheesy/yeasty, really nice) but not to everyone's taste

popsycal · 29/04/2007 08:14

breadsticks
dried fruit
hummus and pitta bread
