The health visitor did ds 22 month review yesterday and commented on ds behaviour.... ie v.bossy and a little demanding cant sit still for five minutes etc. She was not saying nasty stuff just that it was something we need to watch and mentioned that i probably need to monitor food additives in the food he eats. I know obviously that we should be avoiding sugars but what else should i be looking out for????

I know that colourings and sweeteners have both been implicated in hyperactivity problems.... will try to find something on a link for you

do YOU feel there is a problem with your ds?

Does this help?

It has a link to the HACSG which looks like they might be able to help in more detail

not really.... he is very bossy does not tend to sit still for more than 2 seconds and i do seem to be that poor mum at play group who gets the 'he's very busy isn't he' with a sympathetic smile type comments. But that said i think he is just a lively energetic interested in the world sort of child... he loves people... loves being out doors.... loves finding out things and getting into everything. I think probably i need to learn to disipline him more effectively because he certainly likes to get his own way, can throw a monster tantrum and has started hitting me to get his own way (although as soon as he hits me he realises what he has done stops crying and says 'cuddle... not sure if that is a good or bad reaction). so anyway back to the point no i dont think there is a major problem at the moment but it is certainly something i need to get my head around now and i realise diet is a major factor in that!
