Cooking for 6 this Saturday and want it to be very lovely.

Sorted for starter and dessert - prawns and smoked salmon then chocolate fondant.

Need some inspiration for the main meal. Can't be lamb.

Tia.

I did this fillet of beef with chilli, lemon and cumin recently and it was gorgeous. I served it with a salad and winter slaw and sweet potato wedges with a sour cream and onion dip.

Nearly 500 5-star reviews.... everybody loves it and so do I. It's impressive but so easy. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4814/mustardstuffed-chicken

How formal?

I like sharing food rather than stuff pre plated.
So something like a paella in a traditional pan, loads of seafood, crusty bread, salad, finger bowls, plenty napkins etc.

A moroccan tagine and sides lends itself to the same purpose, flatbreads, jewelled couscous etc, big pot of spicy harissa.

I find food like this far more fun than a traditional meat and two veg served already plated up, provides lots of talking points, food travel etc and relaxes even formal occasions.

Ricekrispie that looks easy but fab!

What would you serve with it? New potatoes and greens?

I find that cabbage and leaks go well with it (I'd opt for the latter for a dinner party) and roasties but I suppose new potatoes could work too.

had the best time when the host put in front of us a big casserole dish.took off lid and there was a gorgeous stew and dumlings.nothing better in this weather.
a hot pot either chicken bases or beef.
couple of big pasta bakes.
in this weather id love something unxious and warming over delicate.

Is there a sauce with the chicken or is it moist enough as it is?
A bit concerned it might be a bit dry?

I'm sorry but mustard stuffed chicken reminds me of a dish someone did at uni for come dine with me Confused a bit midweek

Porchetta? Some butchers do them ready rolled.

Beef in red wine?

Ricekrispie22 · 09/01/2018 19:38

It's not dry, the bacon stops the actual meat from drying out and the cheese melts. I always find that there's residue in the roasting pan too.
