2 yr old refusing milk

Help!

My 2 yr old now refuses milk completely. She was bf till 6 months, then on Aptimil whilst weaning. She stopped having milk to go to bed at about 18 months, just stopped drinking it, but until a month ago would still have warm milk when she got up - only about 8 oz mind.

She now wont have it at all - not even on cereal.

I have tried choolate milk, which she will have a litle bit, but don't want to rely on that!

Is this a problem? Should I be worried? At the moment I am worried about the lack of calcium in her diet so have been forcefeeding her fromage frais and laughing cow cheese !!

I think she has a good diet generally - toast in the mornings, sandwich or beans on toast type snack for lunch and a meat and 2 veg eve meal but should I force the issue?

She drinks an amazing amount during the day - fruit juices or smoothie 1/2 with water, just no milk.

Any advice - or just a 'don't worry it wont hurt' would be greatfully received (maybe I'm just turning into a neurotic mum)

Sounds fine to me

Don't worry, it won't hurt. So long as she gets enough calcium (doesn't need to be in dairy products) she'll be fine.

quite normal to give up milk at that age. Just make sure she gets it in desserts or other food.

My ds gave up plain milk at 18 months (although he still does have it on cereal). He still doesn't drink it and he is 3. I am pleased to say he has survived! He has A LOT of yoghurt though. Have you tried those drinking yoghurts? He loves those. They have a lot of sugar in them but as he hardly ever has biscuits/chocolates/sweets I don't worry about it too much. I also mix cheese into things when I get the chance. Don't worry about it!

Thanks soooo much everyone . I was getting myself in a real tizzy over this, thinking that she MUST have milk (I do wish children came with an instruction manual), but it has really helped to hear that it's not just my dd.

I'll just keep doing what I am doing then, and stop worrying ......... until the next thing lol
