I do not fear celeriac.
I can look a beetroot in the face without blenching.
Swede holds no terrors for me.

But wtf can I do with kohl rabi??

Thank you.....

it is yummy - slice it thinly and use in salads (or grate it)

Try the bbc food side, there are a couple of suggestions there for kohl rabi. Had never heard of it myself till it came in the veg box!

Will try a link...

Salad is a good idea - I wouldn't have thought of that

Some of those BBC recipes look encouraging.
thanks.

it's yummy raw and v. popular as a snack for children in Germany. Just peel and cut into crudites.
Tastes ok cooked too but raw is much nicer.

OK just had some grated as a snack - lovely and light and refreshing, which wasn't what I was expecting at all.
Thanks all.
Not scared of it any more now

Oooh, I wish I could find Kohlrabi in Scotland. I've planted some but the seedlings are only about 2 cm tall at the moment.

In Germany, a popular thing to do with Kohlrabi is to stuff it. Anything goes, really, mince, or cooked rice with herbs and cheese or whatever else you can think of. Just boil the Kohlrabi for a few minutes, scrape out the inner bits (they can go into the stuffing) fill in the stuffing, sprinkle cheese on top , pour some cream or vegetable stock around the Kohlrabi and bake in the oven until the cheese is nicely melted and the Kohlrabi cooked.

You can use the smaller inner leaves too (if it came with leaves at all).
