Dairy allergy - what can I give dd if not soya?

DD has a dairy allergy, not serious, but she breaks out in a horrible itchy rash every time she eats anything with cow's milk in it. The GP says he can't prescribe soya formula or recommend soya products, and we're seeing a consultant in a month to see what she says. The health visitor is useless ("have you tried a lump of cheese"), and the internet throws up conflicting advice. I'm worried that a) she isn't getting enough fat and b) I want to stop breast feeding quite soon as I'll be returning to work. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Why is soya such a problem (she's not allergic to it - I've tried it in the past).

I currently use Goats milk and cheese and soya yoghurts. You can also get sheeps cheese.

How old is she? if you want fat use good quality oils, avocados, oily fish...
If she isnt alefgic to soya why dont you give it to her? I asked in health fod shop and they said - it can be a bit hrd to digest and has les calcium than cows milk but apart from that its ok for over 2s. The soya based infant formulas have a tooth roting tendency but if you use them sparingly it shouldnt be a prob.

My dd1 has a cows milk allergy ...and when i stopped b/f , she was given soya formula - Wysoy is the one i used and she had no trouble with it . she now drinks goats milk , i was told that kids grow out of this allergy eventually , she now can eat cheese, fromage frais /yoghurts but still reacts to milk alone so still drinks goats milk.

soya is potentially a problem as it is quite a strong allergen itself.

if your dd cant tolerate goats milk, she may still be ok with sheeps milk products.

We use Provamel rice milk for DS2 as a milk substitute.

Thanks all. Someone else has mentioned rice milk as well. She is almost one so perhaps it's too early for soya. I had heard that goat's milk had been taken off the shelves for some reason but obviously I heard wrong. Did all of you start using substitutes by yourself, or did you get any medical advice? So far the medical advice I have had hasn't been very helpful.
