Hi, I can't remember, when is it safe to swap from SMA to normal cows milk for babies. I think with DS1 he was a year old. But, can you safely do it before then?

Thanks

Hi i think it is at 12 months old, depending if they are good eaters. My DD is not so she is still on SMA at 13 months as it is fortified with iron and vits.

recommended age is 12 months, but I think some people do it earlier, I think if you start phasing it in from around 11 months it will be fine, ds is still on formula he is 16 months purely because he hates cow's milk (if you sneak it in he throw the bottle away)

12mo as a 'main drink', but it's ok to use cows' milk on cereal, in cooking etc from 6mo if no allergy issues.

Thanks,

DS2 has cows milk in cereal in the morning but sma in bottles and at night as still waking for at least one bottle at night (8.5 months). He is a very good eater so might start swapping one bottle.
