Relatively straightforward Hallowe'en cake & party treats?

Hi,

I saw some amazing stuff on the Hallowe'en party thread and hoping for ideas, tips, recipes from some talented people...

We have a Hallowe'en birthday kid here and will be throwing a little party. Normally I do a fairly bog standard cake with spiderweb icing, but feel I need to take it up a notch a bit this year as kids getting older and excitement building.

I am planning to make ginger buns with orange icing and an 'eyeball' (wrapped chocolate) on top - they were a hit last year.

Erm, that's about it so far.

Tried and tested ideas would be so welcome, particularly if they are relatively low effort.

Thanks so much.

I did a cauldron cake one year. Super easy. Bake cake in glass bowl so rounded, cover with black fondant and flip over so looks like cauldron. Create rim round top with more fondant.

Add chocolate matchsticks as twigs and some fondant flames round side. On top, cover with green buttercream (or green jello) and add some jelly worms, etc. spewing out the top.

Take a frankfurter, cut in half, then slice 2/3s of the length into 8. When you put them in boiling water the thinner bits curl up like tentacles. My ds likes them on a bed of black spaghetti

I did little spider cupcakes last year with a giant choc button, a couple of red mini smartie like things for eyes and fizzy bootlaces for legs

If you make jelly in clear plastic cups you can do a layer of orange, then add some sweetie worms, then a layer of lime jelly

Pinterest is your friend! I got loads of simple ideas last year that worked really well
