Christmas cake 🎄☃

I made my Christmas cake early back in august thinking I will feed I every 2 weeks. I have made 3. 2 with brandy and one with orange juice. My cakes seem very moist and Im wondering if im doing something wrong? I have them clingfilmed like the recipe said to and o have some baking paper on them just to wrap them up. I have them in a wooden bread bin box (I don't have any tins). The clingfilm is very greasy and the cakes seem very moist.

After googling I have worried myself that they aren't cooked enough but they must be. I even tried some and it's fine. Just very moist.

Please reassure me that they are ok and I don't have to throw them. I spent forever making them and have been feeding them since August. Help !SadSadSad

I was always told to wrap the cakes in 2 layers of greaseproof and one of foil. Then kept them on the shelf in my food cupboard. Could the clingfilm be making them sweat? A friend one used an apple corer to take out the middle to check it was cooked, prob not the best idea as letting the air into it but she says it was fine, as she fed it when putting the piece back in.

I've only ever wrapped mine in grease proof paper and then foil. So I'm wondering if it's the clingfilm.

Ok I will take the clingfilm off and will wrap in just the paper and foil. It's a james Martin recipe I was following.

When you feed your cakes how long do you leave it before you wrap it back up? I didn't know if I was wrapping it back up too quick and that was why? I didn't feed it for 3 weeks and then fed it today. Left them out for a couple of hours to try and dry them out.

Hopefully changing it to paper and foil will help

🙁

I normally unwrap them all feed them all then wrap back up straightaway so prob open for a max of 10 mins. Just done it the way nan taught me. Was thinking i done a Delia cake once and it had quite alot of fat in it compared to others which made that appear quite wet when feeding, maybe the James Martin one is similar. Sure it will be fine, Christmas cakes used to cause me quite abit of stress worrying if they are ok or not as it's such along time before they get eaten lol
