Easy lunch for 20??

Morning all. I have a family wedding on Saturday and after a bottle of wine last night I thought it would be a great idea to invite people round for brunch/lunch to keep them going through the nuptials Confused
So on Saturday morning I need to get ready for a wedding, cook for 15-20 people, clean up and be out of the house by 12.30. Any ideas what I can make?! Ideally something I can prep the night before and stick in the oven in the morning. I was thinking a frittata but I've only ever made that with a hot filling, if it is cold will it take an age in the oven?

If you've got time to prep, I'd make some stuff in advance, like fruity muffins and then put out things like smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels and a fruit platter with lots of juice and coffee. Too much cooking on the morning when you're trying to get ready is super-stressful.

I'd do bacon baps - lots of bacon on trays and sausages in the oven and people make their own.

Serve with lots of tea.

But I'm not terribly sophisticated!

You could also do cinnamon rolls, croissants or banana bread.

All quite carby, but less stressful than cooking on the morning.

I'd focus more on breakfast foods, go to Waitrose and buy bags of their frozen croissants and pastries. Good butter and jams. French sticks, . Big fresh fruit salad, big bowl of yoghurt and granola to sprinkle on top. Maybe bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Jugs of fresh juice, tea and coffee.

Great ideas, I think breakfast foods is the way to go. Hopefully someone will offer to help with the washing up!!

What about a sort of savory bread and butter pudding with bacon and sausage in it? like this www.recipetineats.com/cheese-and-bacon-breakfast-strata-cake-bread-bake/

Make up a few big casserole dishes the night before and stick in the oven in the morning. You could do a veggie on too if you have non meat eaters.

Do fruit, pastry, toast your own bread station - could even put out scotch pancakes and potato cakes and get people to help themselves.

If you have kiddies coming get a variety pack of cereal they were always so exciting when I was a kid!

Have lots of tea, coffee and juice available - again set up a "station" and get people to help themselves!

You could do an Italian(ish) buffet - takes a few minutes to prepare as you buy it at the deli counter or supermarket - put out

  • platters of parma ham, salami bresola etc
  • cheese board
  • crusty ciabatta or rolls
  • bowl of pasta with pesto and/or tomato sauce
  • salad
  • jars of pickles, sun-dried tomato
  • fruit platter - melon, strawberries, figs etc
  • (possibly lasagna that you can make the day before)
