I was given loads whilst I was pregnant, I really don’t like mint tea. Can I use the mint for anything else?

Mint tea wine!

MollyHuaCha · 21/09/2017 09:49

It's an acquired taste - persevere!

CraicMammy · 21/09/2017 10:34

Hmm I like the mint tea wine idea! 🥂 thanks!!

Use the dried mint for making a minted lamb dish.

ponderingprobably · 21/09/2017 10:44

Used the dried mint for making mint sauce.

You can use them to add falvour to various savoury dishes, eg chuck in a teabag into the water when cooking rice (if you are serving it with something that will go with mint), or into a lamb casserole, or into the stock when making pea soup (take it out before eating, obviously!).

But if you don't like the flavour of mint tea, it may be easier just to give them to a friend who does - or to take them into work and leave at the tea station.

Give them to someone who likes mint tea 😀

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 22/09/2017 08:39

Give them to the cat. It will be messy but entertaining.

LornaMumsnet · 22/09/2017 09:18

You could use the mint tea to make ice cubes for cocktails (I don't like mint tea either...)

I have no idea if that will turn out okay, though... Grin

Glad I'm not alone in my mint tea dislike. It gives me awful heart burn. I prefer nice gentle camomile but, of course, nearly every café I know of stopped serving camomile tea, last year. I can't even use my John Lewis free cake and cuppa vouchers any more.

Deodoriser for the bin ...

2014newme · 22/09/2017 09:41

Food bank

lynmilne65 · 22/09/2017 09:54

send to my sister

NoSquirrels · 22/09/2017 09:55

Donate them to the food bank

CraicMammy · 23/09/2017 18:26

Why don’t restaurants serve chamomile tea anymore?! I missed that.

If the teabags hadn’t been sat in a cupboard for at least a year, I would deffo foodbank.

Thanks for the ice cube idea, that’s a winner!

Put them in your bath or do a foot bath when you've been on your feet all day ?
Step them and use them as an eye mask?

Duckiesprettycrazy · 27/09/2017 20:30

Use them to clean the kitchen floor - add a couple of bags to a bucket of hot water with some white vinegar

KichenDancefloor · 10/10/2017 22:10

Pop them in shoes to deodorise them. I got some free with a shopping delivery and that's what they're used for in our house now.

Ttbb · 10/10/2017 22:14

Add a bag of mint when boiling potatoes then take it out. It makes a huge difference.

Sequence · 11/10/2017 00:27

Shoe fresheners?

Sequence · 11/10/2017 00:28

Doh, not awake enough to RTFT and see exact same suggestion 2 posts ago Shock

KichenDancefloor · 11/10/2017 06:56

Far more succinct though sequence Wink

malovitt · 11/10/2017 07:07

Use the OLIO food sharing app and see if there is anyone in your area who would like them.

Use them for mojitos - make a sugar syrup by boiling up white sugar with a small amount of water. Add the mint teabag to this and you'll have minty sugar syrup. Take the teabag out then cool and bottle the syrup.

I tried this once when we couldn't get fresh mint for a cocktail party and it works a treat.
