Ideas for picnic food

Going to an adventure park tomorrow, where no doubt the food will be overpriced.

Thinking of taking a picnic instead.

Bearing in mind that I'm trying to lose weight, anyone got some good suggestions what to take?

(I'm so unimaginative when it comes to food )

lullabyloo, OP is going to an adventure park, not Glyndebourne

rebelmum1 · 05/04/2007 13:50

yum and some nice champagne to wash it down - sounds lovely. Would just add olives for nibbles and maybe some salami.

MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 13:52

can I say again, adventure park

As it's an adventure park and not a posh picnic you are after:

Sarnies for kids - grated carrot and cream cheese
some fruit
maybe some mini babybells and cherry toms and carrot sticks?
packet of biscuits to share out between them or a packet of crisps.
bottle of water each

for you
a salad and ryvittas in a plastic tub?

Taylormamaloveslindtbunnies · 05/04/2007 13:59

losing weight picnic -
green salad in tupperware (loads of chopped up veggies)
brown rice or pasta sald with tuna etc
baby tomatoes
pot of hummous

mrsB....normal picnic food?????
No??????

MrsBadger · 05/04/2007 14:23

normal for a picnic that is the event with baskets and rugs etc, yes
not for dragging round Thorpe Park in a rucksack and scoffing perched on a bench somewhere

I have a good line in event picnic food (v like your list ) for Henley etc, but there are times when you do just want to refuel and carry on with the minimum of stuff to carry.

rebelmum1 · 05/04/2007 14:47

the cous cous might get thrown about a bit on the roller coaster

MiaWallace · 05/04/2007 16:10

Some good ideas ladies.

I might even treat myself to some of the 'posher' stuff.

Cheese, ham rolls

get some strawberries if you can, they always go down well.If you get the kids to eat loads of fruit first, you don't feel so bad if they pig out on icecreams!
