BREAKFAST/ MILK DILEMA

My DS has always been a nightmare feeder and has never had bfast apart from a few cheerios. He loves his morning bottle and downs 6oz when he wakes up between 6-7.00 but flatly refuses anything at 8.00 when I offer it. He mostly eats lunch and tea but this can often be a bit of a battle.

I feel terrible letting him go until 12.00 without anything in his bellie and am considering dropping the morning feed or cutting back to just 2-3 oz but am worried about reducing his milk intake.

Any help at all would be appreciated-I am tearing my hair out! Middle

How old is he? My DD didn't like breakfast for ages, probably not till 9-10 months. When she started eating finger food she got really into bananas and toast and when the novelty wore off took to weetabix (sometimes dry!).

sorry forgot to mention he is 13 months old so should be tucking into 3 meals a day by now or am I being unreasonable?

My DS was the same at that age. I found that when I cut back his first milk, that helped a little, and also making him wait longer for his breakfast, which I know can be difficult if you have to get to work or whatever. You could try just giving him a yoghurt and banana or something.

We recently stopped giving dd2 milk at/before breakfast because she wasn't eating anything at all, but she was guzzling her milk. Now she eats quite alot of breakfast and I give her some milk late morning before her nap. This works quite well for us (she is now 16 months).

My dd's 21 months and also a nightmare eater! I now never give her any milk before breakfast but give her cereal or whatever first, then offer milk. She usually doesn't eat much but at least it's better than nothing. When she was your Ds' age she didn't really eat any breakfast at all. Or lunch or tea for that matter . Now she eats a minute lunch and a good tea. I think when they are small eaters that milk really fills them up quickly. I know some babies / toddlers who drink more milk than my dd AND eat more food, they eat because they like it / it's fun. Dd I think eats when she's starving and as soon as her appetite's quenched a bit she doesn't want to know. Your ds may be the same?
