Best storage for apples!

We're really fortunate to have 3 apple trees in our garden and they seem to be ripe this year earlier than normal. This year I really want to make the most of them this year including the windfalls instead of throwing half on the compost heap.

I don't always have time to cook them within days, although I know I could stew them and then freeze them but any other ideas or best ways to store them to prevent them over-ripening or the bruising spreading quickly? At the moment I have a box and a paper bag to use for storage.

Wrap individually in brown paper or newspaper and keep somewhere cool.

Or slice them and dry them.

Thank you!
Yes - wrapping the individually in newspaper will work.

Either wrap in newspaper and space out on racks, so they can"dry" a bit, before storing in boxes somewhere cool and dark, or ( my favourite way to store apples) make a solution of 1 dessert spoon of salt to a litre of water, peel, core and slice apple's, dip in solution, than open freeze in baking sheets. Once frozen - doesn't take long - you can chuck in bags for your own IQF apples to use as you wish.

They stay perfectly white that way.
