I need ideas for things I can cook the day before. This is an impromptu thing (basically I've just been asked), so I have had no time to think of anything....

Thanks!

Not great weather for it, but a mild curry in the slow cooker and rice

Lasagne, garlic breads and salad

Pork covered in BBQ sauce cooked in slow cooker served with coleslaw and rolls

Chicken leg/thigh pieces covered in marinade cooked in oven, served with a few salads and corn cobs

I'd get a piece of gammon, roast and serve cold, make a big quiche the day before and reheat on the day. I'd also make a big platter of coronation chicken (retro but I love it!)
Serve with roasted baby potatoes, home made coleslaw, green salad, tomato, basil and mozzarella salad and maybe a cous cous with roasted veg, chickpeas and pomegranate seeds.

Roast a couple of chickens - perhaps with a marinade such as harissa or Zataar or simple lemon, garlic and herb. Buy in and heat up a few different veggie quiches (vegetarians) and roast some veg (aubergine, courgette etc)with an oil and lemon or balsamic dressing for the vegans (if any)or make Briam

Make some salads - a bean salad, a couscous and veg one, a tomato and onion one?

If you need starters just offer a mezze of hummus, olives, hams etc.
I would just buy in some cake and or cheeses for puddings if you are expected to provide those too.

Great suggestions here, thanks! I think I'll go with the roast gammon, then either boiled baby potatoes or roasted (but only if I can roast then in their skins!). Coleslaw, another salad, dips, cheeses, etc. It's actually not that much work to put all that together! Tidying the house will be more of a stress, I think...

Tidy the house and order takeaway curry.

All you need to do is make a big pan of rice and toast some naan bread. Job done with minimal aggro.

that's a good idea high especially seeing as there is always too much curry I can never finish it! Just came on to say in my experience ..keep it simple don't have too many dishes! People don't mind and there is always too much food anyhow

I've ordered in pizzas with a 50% off code and done separate garlic bread salads antipasti.etc before

Also Gala buffet so naice Gannon pickles salads etc
