At what age do you allow your children to drink coke?

Hi all,
I've just been reading a very heated thread on a German board about the question above - isn't parenting amazing? SOOOOOOO many thinks to get upset about... (dummies, b/feeding, sleeping...)
But I've been wondering about this with my dd1, who sees me and dh drink coke occasionally, and has asked if she could try, but accepted it when we said it was only for adults. She's just turned three. Also, would you think 'proper' coke or diet coke would be better? Find the latter a bit dubious because of the sweeteners.
What do you do/think?

My DD is 2y 3m and she isn't allowed fizzy pop at all. I do drink Coke though, Dh doesn't. DD did ask for a taste recently and I let her, knowing she wouldn't like it. It has stopped her asking now as she now knows it isn't for her.

The thing with Coke and coins does make me chuckle a bit though. I have no intention of keeping Coke in my mouth that long!!!

Actually I went to one of the pupil's science talks last year and one of the tasks looked at Coc Cola and its ingredients. Urgh!!!

DD has never had coke (although she does like fizzy wine!)and even though we have diet pepsi at home (to go with the vodka )she's never asked for it.

She gets full sugar lemonade if she's fasting because of a stomach bug and as a result thinks it's medicine...

no, DS (4) calls it mummy's beer and gets very excitable when he sees other people drinking it. Apart from the odd lemonade with a happy meal, which he has about 3 sips from then leaves I mix fizzy water with juice when he wants what he calls 'bubbly juice'. I am probably so strict as I love the stuff, think it's highly addictive and when not pregnant it takes all my resolve to only have 1 can/day (I don't drink tea or coffee mind).

i must admit ive never really thought about it that much. dont know anything about it apart from its not good. ds seldom has it, maybe if we're in a family pub on holiday or something. he has his own juices at home which he just helps himself to and fizzy drinks arent allowed at school anyway. i did however find him at his grandad's one day with a can of red bull! (i wasnt amused!)

and yes, he really did seem to have wings afterwards..grrrrr.

We are so lucky in that DS just doesn't like the fizz in any fizzy drinks so we have never encouraged it.
Even if he did like fizzy drinks I wouldn't give him coke ... I would cheat probably and sometimes let him have fizzy water with sugar free cordial in it ...
