How to get protein into my three year old

My three year old is going through a very fussy phase at the moment and is refusing most of the meals she used to enjoy.

She does eat fruit and veg and is healthy enough. The main thing bothering me is that she gets very little protein. Today, for example, she ate toast for breakfast, an oaty bar for snack, a buttered roll at lunchtime, some potatoes, lettuce and beans for tea, followed by fruit and yogurt. She refused sausages at lunch and scrambled egg at tea. Her diet is heavy on the carbs but she won't eat any meat or fish, nuts and seeds are also out.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of how I can maybe get hidden protein into her? Any help gratefully received!!!!

Thanks for all the ideas folks. Pleased to say she has got slightly better of late. Still can't get her to eat red meat which is rather frustrating.

Peas, lentils and pulses (e.g. As Soup), and nut butter, along with some fish is pretty much all the protein my crazy fussy toddler has. I console myself that at least she has this, its better than nothing. We keep offering meat, cheese etc though

Don't worry OP, your LO is getting plenty of plant based protein. Oats and beans in particular are very high in protein, so do keep giving her the healthy foods she likes! There's a big misconception about animal protein being "better" when in reality the protein we get from animals is simply recycled from the plants that those animals ate! Plant protein is better anyway great and here's a helpful chart to perhaps put your mind at ease a bit.
