Waitrose Extra Fine sponge flour - do I add baking powder?

Hello, just about to start a marathon baking session, arranged a delivery this morning in preparation but have forgotten to include baking powder. The recipe on the packet of Waitrose Extra Fine sponge flour does not mention adding baking powder, just as if the flour were self raising. But its for a lemon drizzle cake, would that usually need baking powder.

Ill try ringing Waitrose but have a suspicion that MN will b able to tell me more quickly.

Many thanks in advance

Im planning to use a tried and tested (old gimmer) version of sponge recipe to make 'fairy cakes', 5oz butter, 5oz sugar, 7oz flour, three eggs, flour one batch with lemon and the other chocolate.

Don't want them to rise too much, as they might if i add baking powder and then, if i don't and it needs it. I need to make several batches and am not sure i have enough time to bake a trial....

I'm fairly sure its just self raising that's been sieved more. I don't usually add baking powder personally but I use Sainsbury's sponge flour.

As a side note, can I have some? Sounds lovely Grin

And then I read the entry on Waitrose's web site,

Product Summary
Extra fine sponge self raising flour, perfect for cakes

As you were.
