Dd has decided to go vegetarian and I will eat mainly veggie meals with her.
I would really like some basic, go to easy veggie meals I can use regularly and would like to buy a good cookbook with easy to follow recipes.
Can anyone recommend a useful family one with easy recipes.

Sam Stern has a veggie one. Very straightforward - decent mix of recipes.

Thanks Remus that's what I'm looking for, a straight forward, no faffing about cookbook.

The hairy bikers veggie diet cookbook is really good, lots of tasty and hearty meals, nicely laid out and easy to follow. A picture for all the recipes as well which is helpful. I also love Delia her veggie cookbook is good and very comprehensive. The other one I have frequently turned too in 30 years (nearly) of being veggie, is the Crank's cookbook.

If you like Delia's style, her vegetarian one is the best imo.

It has delicious recipes that just happen be vegetarian. Most of her recipes are online so you can try a few before you buy the book. Her oven-baked wild mushroom risotto is amazing and her vegetarian sausage rolls, made a filling made with cheese, onion, breadcrumbs, double cream and fresh herbs are better than the meat version by a mile and always disappear in a flash when I take a batch anywhere!

I've been vegetarian for 30 years and it's the book I use more than any of my others.

I have a River Cottage vegetarian cookbook that I like

Hulder · 30/07/2017 12:26

Anna Jones.

DH is not vegetarian and I have made practically everything from her book and minus about 1 dish, it has all been a hit.

StarDanced · 30/07/2017 12:29

River cottage veg book is brilliant. I haven't had a bad meal from that book

paradoxicalInterruption · 30/07/2017 12:30

Hfw veg every day. Really good. Often use it and I'm not veggie. Good tasty easy stuff (avoid the kale lasagna though....)

Whatslovegottodo · 30/07/2017 12:36

Plant based cook book, by DK. Really good meals and healthy too. Usually on offer in the works as are others.

Hairy Bikers and Veg Everyday make far too much use of tinned tomatoes for my liking.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2017 12:49

Veg Everyday chard curry is disgusting - even dp wouldn't eat it, and he eats pretty much everything.

FlukeSkyeRunner · 01/08/2017 07:31

Fresh India, if you like Indian food. Everything I've tried from that book is delicious.

Pretty much anything by Rose Elliot.
I've got one called something like Vegetarian Meals in Minutes. I make lots from there.

If you can find it the original Cranks cookbook is great. It's out of print, but pops up on eBay. The Cranks cookbooks currently in publication are not as good but maybe worth checking out.

dowhatyouwish · 01/08/2017 08:06

Mildreds cookbook

LouieLou2013 · 01/08/2017 11:10

Second the Sam Stern one

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 01/08/2017 11:19

I'm on my second copy of the Cranks book as the first fell apart from overuse.. It is so good to see it us still popular. I have very fond memories of going to the restaurant when I moved to London in the early 90s.
I also love Rose Elliot. I have a zodiac cookbook which has some lovely recipes in. I would second Delia for sttaightforward recipes. Her parsnip, sage and cheese roulade is my Christmas dinner every year.
I haven't heard of Sam Stern so thank you for the tip.
I use Pinterest to get new ideas. Currently DD and I are on a Ramen tip, so easy, cheap and healthy. I can really recommend tofu from the Tofoo company. Best tofu I have ever had in 30 years.

One more tip I have found useful is to have lots of flavourings e.g harissa paste, rice wine vinegar, powdered garlic(I'm a recent convert) . Also, as many fresh herbs that will fit on your windowsill. If you have the means of making some normally bland veg like cauliflower much nore tasty, you will be less tempted to fall back on the old egg and chips ( speaking from experience Grin )
