Best tinned ham

Wouldn't usually touch the stuff but we're needing to take some food away with us and my DC (fussy eaters) only really eat ham in sandwiches.

Were traveling for a longtime and will have no cold storage.

There is no such thing as good tinned ham. I love ham sarnies but I wouldn't eat that jellied shit out of a tin if you paid me. Are you sure your DC will eat it? Can't you take a cool box?

Rinkydinkypink · 21/05/2017 21:47

I can't take a cool box. I'm happy with tuna, cheese etc but the DC won't be touching it. Like I said I've never had anything to do with it.

What else could I do? I'm wondering about jam sandwiches. For a short time I doubt it'll matter?

I probably wouldn't take sandwiches at all.

Croissants, brioche, crackers etc

Kipperiscool · 21/05/2017 21:58

Ham hock pate? can't believe how middle class I sound Blush

Rinkydinkypink · 21/05/2017 22:06

Pate is a good option. Thank you. They eat that!

Surely pate needs to be kept refrigerated Confused

Onehellofaride · 22/05/2017 00:02

I actually quite like the m&s ham in a tin Blush

Blondie1984 · 22/05/2017 00:30

If you are going to buy it then I would get the M+S one

Kipperiscool · 22/05/2017 08:37

onehello you can buy it in tins I think.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/05/2017 16:04

It's really different from packet ham so they might not like it, but I love tinned ham, and tongue.
Jam would be fine though, or peanut butter if they like that.

MackerelOfFact · 22/05/2017 16:19

My XP worked on the deli counter at Waitrose and apparently their 'deli' corned beef just comes out of giant tin! If they eat the processed thin ham it's probably basically the same as the tinned stuff (the texture will be weird though).

Those retro sandwich pastes might work if they like pate. Or hotdogs sausages in buns?

Mumonthesofa · 22/05/2017 16:19

Pek. Can't beat a bit of pek!

Empireoftheclouds · 22/05/2017 16:43

What is pek?

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/05/2017 17:18

Pek is tinned ham.
Yy to the paste suggestion, I like that too, especially the beef or salmon, teenage Dd thinks they are disgusting and weird though, so maybe you need to grow up with it?
