i'm back after a sojourn of my dd eating at least a dinner a day, but things are now bad, so i am not looking for answers just a bit of support from those of you have similar fussy picky non - eaters.
she wont eat fruit at all. yogurt into which i occasionally disguise fruit is a no no at the moment. dinner no, only pasta. not fussy on her milk but likes lemon barley diluted!
she is only 22lb just, has no curiousity for tasting the lovely srawberrries i gave her today, baulks at anyhting new before she even tastes it, just doesnt seem to like food, yet tonight as i put her to bed her tummy rumbles - its not affecting her sleep. but is constipated.
i am fed up , concerned and worried on one hand but just feel like not giving her anything for the nest few days and see what happens.

My dd 20mths is off fruit too, even the stewed stuff which she has had since first being encumbered with a bib.
Like you disguised it in yoghurt to no avail
She will take it in her cereal though, she will eat banana but thats a complex carb so not exactly fruity fruit.
We too are off dinner, she exists solely for the last 2 weeks on bread pasta cereal and yoghurt, she will eat peas and corn and whatever I'm eating, so now I eat lots of fruit and veg and she eats one or two bites of it during the day. So far she has eaten asparagus, grilled tomato on toast, apple and cinnamon, satsuma and grated cucumber hidden in a cheese and marmite sandwich.
You really do have to get inventive. If she eats pasta like my dd, I disguise EVERYTHING in a cheesy sauce incl veges and fruit!
for constipation hmmm... water works for us as dd loves it.. otherwise prune juice is really sweet, easy to add to water too....
my dd has been quite ill though so it may be that, plus she is still getting her four fang teeth through...

hermykne, my dd's nearly 21 months and has always been an incredibly picky eater too. Lots of what you say I could repeat - i.e. she won't even pick up something new to try it so she doesn't even know if she'd like it or not! She NEVER eats breakfast, very occasionally has 2-3 teaspoons of cheerios or a minute corner of a toasted crumpet. She has broccoli, baby corn, a bit of grated cheese and some juice for lunch. And ALWAYS bloody pasta for tea in a cheese and tomato sauce. And this is it, literally. She's never eaten fruit in any form, nor yoghurt, nor bread, bananas, all those things that kids are supposed to love. I despair sometimes. She doesn't drink a lot of milk, 2 7oz bottles a day. I haven't had her weighed for quite a while now but I doubt she's made it to 22lbs yet, I imagine she's around 21lbs if I'm lucky. She still wears 9-12 month clothes with room to spare! Like your dd, she also goes to bed with an upsettingly empty tummy but still sleeps through the night, seems to have lots of energy in the day and isn't whingy in the day so I just have to go with it. One of the worst things is the attitudes of other people, especially family, who seem to think I don't make any effort as they see her eating very little of the same things month after month. But then if they actually try to get her to try something new they soon get the picture!

ps my dd is a sqiddly 18lbs but she consumes a lot of milk and a supplement to aid her weight gain...

piffle and STF thanks for the comparisons, she does drink water quite a bit these days but i'll try adding the prune jusice. stf, my mil is desparate for off the cuff remarks about her,"you'll just have to give her some junk food" was her remark the other day - mind you she was ringing from spain to see how she's doing.
but today went to friends where she ate pringles and one kit kat stick, drank loads of water , came home late asked her would she like dinner, gave her pasta and a tomato sauce with a spoon and she fe herself every bit and held the bowl up for more! i think u just get so upset when you wish they'd eat the fruit.
again thanks

hermykne, trouble with my dd is that she won't eat junk food either! Occasionally she'll eat the odd chip but she doesn't want to know about nuggets, crisps, chocolate etc. I guess I'm quite pleased with the quality of what she does eat even though horrified by the quantity and variety. She's not very well right now so eating NOTHING at all. She does this every time she's ill or teething. It really worries me and dp.

Dont worry about the fruit too much. DS was the same and even up to a few months ago (he is 2yrs and 3months) he would only eat fruit from a jar. Have you tried that? It is pureed and slips down easily.

He was a faddy eater for ages and i stressed about it but kept offering him new things.....not just the same stuff he would eat. He will now try everything even if he doesnt like it and he looks at us and says 'Well done for trying!'

We couldnt believe it today.....we went out for lunch and he tucked in to a plate of mussels in garlic sauce and mopped it up with bread!!

Keep persevering.....she might just not be interested in food but I doubt she will starve.

quite amazing , my mum baby sat the other evning and dd would not eat the dinner i left for her, my mum gave her a bowl of her pasta with olives and sauce! and a deep spoon, as my mum thought the shallow spoon she had was ridiculous! anyway she ate every single bit of pasta - even the tiny bits - twice ie two bowls. so since then i have not fed her, given her a spoon with her "dry" cereal and dinner has been pasta with some sort of sauce.
collison - my dad suggested the fruit in jars so i will do that.
maybe she wanted to get on with feeding herself - wait til i give her potatoes

Welcome to the pasta-for-tea every night club then hermykne . I don't know what it is about it they love but if my dd didn't have that at the end of the day each evening I swear she'd fade away.
