Protein at lunchtime or tea?

I have noticed that ds, 7mos, doesn't seem to like to eat much at lunchtime. He has a good breakfast and tea but often refuses savoury food at lunch. He will eat no end of amount of fruit or anything sweet though. Anyone else have experience of a baby not seeming very hungry at lunchtime?

I'm sure I read/was told that I ought to give protein at lunchtime, do you know why? and is there any reason that I should not give it to him at teatime instead? Eg, yesterday at lunch he only ate about 6 babyspoons of lamb + veg, but then quite happily took some fruit. I thought I'd try him with some lamb at teatime and he wolfed the lot and then an enormous bowl of rice pudding and fruit. I don't want to give him protein twice ... am I right in thinking that? Thanks.

Two reasons I've read for protein at lunchtime: first, to provide energy for the day, and second, because sometimes protein late at night makes them poo. Also because carbs are meant to promote sleepiness so stuffing them full of carbs is meant to help get them to sleep after tea. However I tend to give DS a sandwich at lunch and a main meal at tea time as this is more convenient, and he seems fine. I wouldn't worry about two lots of protein, as I don't think there is any particularly bad side-effects of too much protein and they generally get quite a bit of carb in snacks/fillers in the main meal anyway - just go with the flow! He sounds like a good eater which is great.
