do you normally add baking powder?

mamama · 12/03/2007 18:46

There was a thread about this recently. I think the answer was NO.

Self raising flour already has bakiing powder in it. Plain doesn't so you would have to add baking powder.

With yorkshire puds (same recipe I think) you use plain flour I think, so I reckon it will be fine. I think the egg makes it rise.

I don't see why you can't but I would haet your toad in the hole to flop becuase of me!

Sorry, misread. I would certainly give it a go if I had no plain flour.

yes, it will taste the same

NOOOOOOOO............

If you do, the batter won't rise.

I know it sounds silly, but it is true. Had this convo a few weeks ago about yorkshire puds, she didn't believe me, used s.r. flour.

Boy was she sheepish!
