Obviously it would be much healthier, but would it be a travesty of a traditional pudd?

I'd be interested to know your views, especially if you've ever tried it. Franny. TooTicky.

Oh, I would be very happy with that. If you want to make it and send it round for me to try, I would be happy to help

Greensleeves · 09/03/2007 18:23

Yes, I would. Lovely

Spidermama · 09/03/2007 18:25

Great. I'll let you know how I get on.

If you can get barmbrack, Paul Rankin does it with that. In your Irish bread section.

I've made it with wholemeal. It's lovely. You do need a bit more liquid though.

'Course it's nicer made with panettone though...

singersgirl · 09/03/2007 18:51

I have done it but to be honest I didn't think it was as nice as made with white bread. I think it would have been better with more custard mixture.

lemonaid · 09/03/2007 19:04

I've done it (had bread to use up). It was... OK. A bit too dry, and actually better cold the next day than when originally served. I think if you do it you'd want to include Interesting Spices. And that wholemeal probably works better in bread pudding than in bread-and-butter pudding (there was a certain bread pudding-y quality to the aforementioned leftovers).

mamama · 09/03/2007 19:09

Yes, it's yummy. And you can pretend that it is healthy too

beckybrastraps · 09/03/2007 19:12

Ooh yes. It is lurvely in bread pudding.
