Convince me I need an Instant Pot!

Just that, please.
I have a slow cooker (use lots) and a pressure cooker (not so much)
Would having an instant pot save space and transform my life?? Is it worth the cost?

I'm deliberating too OP. I don't have a pressure cooker or rice cooker, although I do have a slow cooker.

Any recipe book recommendations? Is the Instant pot better than a regular pressure cooker? It doesn't seem to cook brown rice in any quicker time than on the hob...

Can I make old favourite recipes and they'll taste nice? (Slow cooker destroys my beef bourguignon) Like I have an old favourite risotto recipe, do you really just chop up/measure out your ingredients and turn it on?

The Catherine Phipps book is good. It's got U.K. Measurements. A lot of the recipes are a bit too fancy for day to day cooking, but it gives you a good general idea.

Someone upthread said that a lot of recipes use a lot of sugar. I just put less sugar than they say to suit my taste.

I love mine for all the reasons people have said already but also for steaming veg. Super quick, uses hardly any water and veggies keep their vibrant colour and crunch.

Msrisotto - the slow cooker ruined my stews but the pressure cooker doesn't.

It's basically a pressure cooker with a timer and automatic adjustment to keep the heat correct - with small children around I find the timer feature invaluable.

Just made rice in mine for the first time, was lovely and no boiling over starchy mess because the toddler was demanding my attention - success! (1:1 used basmati and the rice setting)

I love mine.

Didn't bother buying recipe books - I just use my normal oven/hob recipes but google a few similar instant pot recipes to get an idea on timings. So many of the recipes I come across are American and either have items I can't get or are barely a recipe (open tin/packet type of thing).

Even stuff that I barely save time by instant potting it I still cook it that way anyway as the texture is so much nicer. Anything I've cooked with mince has been better in the instant pot.

I now have three neglected slow cookers!

Everything I've made in mine has been nice but I haven't really got to grips with it. I just throw in stuff and do it on the standard settings. Made gammon and bean stew today

I am getting an instant pot for my birthday, after my trusty slow-cooker broke (it used to be my grandads, who would be 113 if he was still alive, it didn't owe the world anything!)
But I am totally perplexed about which one I need; I've had the 7-in-1 6 L one in my amazon basket for weeks dithering, is it worth the extra £20 than the Lux 60?

ferriswheel · 02/04/2017 11:38

Can anyone recommend a brand?

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/04/2017 12:13

Instant Pot is a brand, they sell them on Amazon.

I love mine but I have to say stews and mince dishes don't develop anything like the depth of flavour that they do in a slow cooker.
