Help me to survive being kitchenless for a month!

My husband and I are about to embark on having our kitchen completely overhauled. They reckon it'll take about 3 weeks (so i'm expecting at least 4) and we can't afford to move out whilst the work is being done.

We have a 10 month old who attends nursery and both DH and I work long hours. Thankfully my daughter is fed 3 meals at nursery. I can imagine that coming home to a dusty, dirty flat and scrabbling about for food is going to be -bloody awful- less than ideal!

I've had the brainwave to getting a slow cooker and switching it on before we leave so that there is warm cooked food ready when we get home. My DH thinks -I'm mad- I'm making this up, or that I'm going to burn our flat down.

What do you think? Any other tips on how we can survive? Any experience/recipes for a slow cooker?

Thank you!

I think with fridge and microwave it's fine. You can just eat simply for a month.

Buy ready made fresh soups or make and freeze some in advance - just microwave and add bread

Do cold dinners of cheese/ hams/ bread/ fruit

Large salads (just chop stuff, add cheese)

Scrambled eggs, beans, jacket potato etc in microwave.

Porridge in microwave, granolas, yogurt etc.

It's only 3-4 weeks.

ifailed OMG! Is there a chance I could get the washing machine working then? How would I do this?

We hooked up the dishwasher with a hosepipe and a connector to the water inlet, and added an extension to the outlet to reach a drain. Set it up on a board in the tent, it worked fine. Don't see why a washing machine wouldn't work?
did have to turn the water on and off before and after use as there was a slight leak from the connection, but only a dribble which was liveable.
Tent was a cheap 4 person (they must be very small people) from tesco, didn't put up the inner bit, with a sheet of plastic on the floor. Used a piece of wood to stand the dishwasher on to keep it levelish.

Oh, must add this was in the spring in London, so no chance of a frost.

Ask them what you will still have access to, we managed for ages with them moving our gas cooker around. Our problem was no kitchen sink so prep/washing up was a nightmare, we lived on e.g. Marinated chicken that comes in a foil tray (no washing up!) and microwave veg and rice. Oh and you will want take aways.

Definitely an instant pot, can do everything in it.

IKEA Tilreda portable induction hob is £35. We got one for similar situation and it's fab.
