Can you not make one and put it in a flask for her?

Heinz do a lentil soup.

too busy to make it from scratch (4 kids, in 4 diff schools, both work full time) - will look at the Heinz one and maybe add something fresh to it?

Chop up veg, chuck in pot with oxo cubes and boil. That's all I do! Or if you have a slow cooker, do the same, chuck in there and ignore for several hours or overnight. Blitzing afterwards is optional. Chuck in a handful of soup mix (lentils, barley etc) if you want it stodgy.

You can even buy prechopped soup or stew mix, costs between 70p and £1 a packet. No time at all, honestly.

I make my soup simultaneously with cooking the evening meal and it takes minutes. Batch cook and freeze it.

I suspect 'low sugar' is the tricky bit with bought soups (depending on how low you mean by low). Beans and lentils are probably your best route to high protein in soup. Covent Garden Soup Co do several nice beany ones and the supermarket knock-offs of those do a few. For bog standard tinned soup, I can only add Mrs Baxter's Spicy Tomato and Rice soup which I think has sweetcorn and some lentils in it.

You're going to hate me. But you're not to busy to make a giant pot of soup if you ever do any cooking at all. And you'll know it's all the things you want from it.

My fave is the Yorkshire Provender cauliflower cheese and kale.

Amy's Kitchen ones are quite nice but you do need to watch the salt content (yet to find a can of soup that isn't quite high). Waitrose and health food shops sell them.

Or Glorious chilled/fresh soups are also good and have plenty of veggie options.

Making soup yourself if really no more trouble than buying it and opening the tin, especially if you're going to go to the trouble of finding superior bought soup.

If DC is more than about 7 she can do it herself while you're cooking dinner. I make a batch for the week while I'm doing veg for dinner on Sunday.

Adding to the faffing quotient, but I find it tastes better if you gently saute the veg for 15 minutes or so before adding stock and boiling.
