Gammon cooked on Christmas Eve WWYD?

It's been refrigerated but I meant to freeze it a Couple of days ago? Is it too late? The use by date was 9 January but I don't known if that is relevant now that it's been cooked.

If it was cooked Christmas Eve that was 8 days ago. Fridge or not, I'd bin it!

Maverickismywingman · 01/01/2017 12:07

It was cooked ages ago! I'd bin.

3 days is the safe limit to keep leftovers
I would bin it
The use by date is no longer relevant now it's cooked

We finished ours off on the 30th, it was fine.

Ham is cured so it has a longer life than average leftovers. As long as it still smells good and isn't in ANY way slimy, it will be fine.

Hams are kept for months - that's the point!

Hams that are kept for months are kept in preservatives. A bit of gammon that you cook at home is not.

Bin it.

Thanks all. It's going in the bin!

I absolutely detest food waste. Unless it smelt iffy, it would have been fine!

Reality - the gammon that you cook has been cured, with salt. You can so this at home, yourself without any other preservatives. The whole reason gammon and ham exist at all is because curing was a way to preserve meat, in the home, loooong before refrigeration or chemical preservatives.
