When you tip a tin of kidney beans into mince...

...or a stew, or something like that, do you tip the liquid from the tin in too?

Or do you drain it?

Or do you drain it AND rinse the beans?

And do you have a reason for doing it the way you do?

(Doesn't have to be kidney beans, any tin of beans will do.)

Drain, don't usually rinse.

Drain and rinse here, unless the beans are in chilli sauce. Bean muck is bogging.

Drain and rinse until there's no bubbles. I think the goo affects the taste of the chilli. And it looks grim and muddy somehow. I was also told it helps reduce gas!

I drain but don't rinse.

Does the juice for mayo/egg things really work? Are there any good recipes?

RandomMcRandomer · 28/12/2016 12:36

Drain because it's super salty and gross.

farfarawayfromhome · 28/12/2016 12:41

drain and rinse - it's horrible briney salty water - why would you add it?

idontlikealdi · 28/12/2016 12:42

Drain and rinse in a colander not the can. I think for some reason the liquid contributes to gassines?

ChickenPoop · 28/12/2016 12:48

Drain and rinse - properly in a colander if I'm feeling virtuous.

Bean gloop is slimy and grim. If I'm lazy and do an in-the-tin tip and rinse there is usually at least one bean casualty in the process.
