Anyone get Fresh India for Christmas?

I know it's been done by cookery club (and I'm going back to reread those threads!) but wondered if there was anyone new with a copy who wanted to chat through some of the recipes, or any old hands who're up for sharing the recipes they make regularly from it.

I read through it on Christmas day and love it already, lots of yummy looking things and lots made with mostly store cupboard ingredients.

Boxing Day dinner for us (in a different time zone) was the pumpkin, bean and coconut curry on p169 and it was blooming delicious which bodes well for the rest of the book. Creamy with a kick of chilli and the flavour of the mustard seeds, really good.

Just a thread to sing its praises really!

P.S. I prepared the filling earlier so when it came to cooking the momos, it was quite labour- easy as I just had to form them and cook and that is pretty fast.

Dp made the butter paneer tonight. We really liked it but did up the spices. There also seemed a lot of sauce compared to cheese/peas, so next time we'll make less sauce, or use a tin of chickpeas or some fried mushrooms or something, to bulk it out a bit.

Had a lazy day at home today so cooked a lot if Fresh India recipes ... that book is very much worth the money! I made rhubarb and ginger chutney (delicious, definitely double the recipe to give you two / three jars worth, I assume it will keep if canned), hill salad (great), chickpea and tomato salad with tarka (nice) and mango paneer skewers. Have to say I was slightly under whelmed with the skewers ... they were nice but not a taste explosion. But then, with a bit of rhubarb chutney, they were awesome. I love this book.

Also made the roasted Brussels sprouts tonight as a side dish ... I thought they were great, really tasty and very quick

Dp made the 'Bengali in the cupboard' egg curry tonight. It was nice but very spicy. Would eat again but add some cream to the sauce, I think.

Ooh I'd like to try that one Remus. I made the dhokla (quite unusual, rather a refreshing taste... bit tangy. I had to buy the fruit salt off eBay) and also the cauliflower korma. The korma was very easy to make and pretty tasty ... a mid week type of a meal.
