They're not something i have made for ages, but i would imagine a normal panckae recipe would do , and put blobs of mix in the pan, instead of spreading it around the pan like you would do with a pancake. Does that make sense?

the BBC one is good \line{http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/honeydropscones_2046.shtml\here}

No, it isn't the same as normal pancake batter as you need a raising agent. Haven't got the recipe to hand, but there's an easier version using buttermilk which I like:

1/4 pt buttermilk
3 eggs
6 oz SR flour
pinch salt
tsp sugar

Whisk together the buttermilk and eggs, then sift in the dry ingredients to form a thick batter. Grease a pan (I use a skillet), drop on spoonfuls of batter and turn over after a couple of mins or until brown on both sides.
