Gluten free Christmas party food

FusionChefGeoff · 12/12/2016 16:48

One of our guests has had a pretty rubbish year and was diagnosed as Gluten intolerant earlier - she is only 11 and even the smallest amount makes her quite poorly so I think she's really struggled to adapt to the new diet.

I'd love to make sure she has her own selection of yummy food but nearly everything I am doing / have thought of has gluten in it - even pigs in blankets aren't safe!

I don't mind making some stuff for her as long as it can be done in advance and frozen - any ideas?? Or has anyone seen any good pre-made gluten free party food??

Try Marks and Spencer they have a gluten free section in their Christmas book!

M&S do good GF party food , and their cocktail sausages ( in the tub) are GF , I think the pigs in blankets may be as well . Tesco finest sausages are GF . Genius do frozen GF sausage rolls ( most supermarkets ) , Goodfellows do frozen GF pizza ( most supermarkets ) .

Tesco have a lot of gluten free stuff, and M and S do gluten free pigs in blankets.

M&S have loads including mini chicken kievs and mini toad in the hole. They have a lot of bacon wrapped things too which are all gluten free.

Both Tescos and M&S have GF party food, plus I think both are doing all their party sausages and pigs in blankets etc as GF, as are Aldi.

Tescos are selling a Just roll GF puff pastry now, so you could do sausage rolls, or the M&S ones are nice. Tesco also have frozen profiteroles and pizza, plus chicken dipper things.

Any ideas on her favourite party food? Obvs things like hummus and crudites, cheese and pineapple on sticks, guacamole, salsa are GF, but you'd need to put some dips to one side for her as people dip gluteny stuff in them.
Plain Pringles are GF, as are Pom Bears (I like the festive shaped ones!), plain Doritos (and cool original last time I looked, but I don't eat them very often so check the packet), Walkers plain, S&V, smoky bacon and cheese onion are OK too

Woo hoo thanks perfect advice. Will send DH to M&S to stock up and thanks for the heads up on the GF crisps etc without having to resort to mega bucks 'free from' versions.

I think I'll try to get the gf pastry too - can't beat a homemade sausage roll!'

In M&S, their low fat crinkle crisps (in plain at least, they are my faves so I can't remember the others) are GF and are really nice for dipping. The packaging in M&S is super clear so its hard to go wrong - of course all prepackaged food has to have the top allergens declared.

Bless you for taking such care though - I've been GF 19 years now, and I can't tell you how many events I've been to where I've only eaten what was in my bag. Including my exSIL who thought some Morrisons value peanuts (still in the bag, lobbed at me with a klippit on) would be fine as my food when everyone else got hot food

Most supermarkets have some great gluten free stuff now. I noticed individual GF sticky toffee puddings in Sainsbury. Also things like meringue nests (tho you'd need to check ingredients for shop bought but can be made ahead and frozen).

If not your child would double check if there is anything else she's allergic too, apparently mustard is a common Allergy for GF folk too
