Need some inspiration. What are in your kids' packed lunches? This week for us:

black bean quesadillas with avocado and tomato salad. Mango and kiwi
smoked salmon and pea frittata with some tomatoes and peppers. butternut squash cake with a dollop of yoghurt
same again
chicken and hm pesto pasta salad type thing with tomatoes and peppers. kiwi and blueberries
cheese and courgette muffins with tomatoes and peppers. sliced apple with peanut butter for dipping

Yours sound fancy and must take a bit of work!

Ds has a bagel or brioche roll with ham/jam/cheese. A yoghurt, fruit (grapes/strawberries/satsuma), mini biscuit thing and a bottle of water

Crumbs1 · 07/12/2016 18:51

Sounds like a competition!

What's wrong with simple?

MadHattersWineParty · 07/12/2016 19:21

Stealth boast?Grin

I'm a nanny and I make my charge ham sandwiches and fruit and sometimes leftovers from the night before. Pretty standard. Sometimes she gets some banana bread I've made.

MagicHatching · 07/12/2016 19:40

No not a stealth boast! This is the food forum after all! Just meant to be like a meal planning thread. Wasn't trying to get competitive. Agree they seem quite fancy but none of its that much effort and just want to keep it interesting. Plus I enjoy cooking!

It's just that yours sound pretty 'inspired' already OP! Not sure what to suggest!

I like cooking too but I know for a fact that anything 'fancy' gets fed to the pigeons in the school playground Sad Grin

Grab them a McDonald's on the way to school, reckon that would make a nice change. Wink

MagicHatching · 08/12/2016 05:51

Ok I've learned my lesson! Grin

I'm allowed to have fancy stuff on the meal planning threads with nary a head turn! I think it's quite fun and not so posh it doesn't get eaten by the DC. If I titled the thread 'smug lunchboxers the way' would that be better? Grin

I'm into cous cous salads at the mo, chuck anything that needs using up really but tend to always include chickpeas, dried cranberries and peppers.
Soup? Not always practical I know but nice when it's cold.
Are you deliberately limiting bread products? If not falafel in pittas, bagels with cream cheese and cucumber, cheese and crackers, homous with pitta, bread sticks and crudités.

PippaFawcett · 09/12/2016 09:05

I'm only poking fun, I - and my DC - would love your lunches. Mine are more of the wrap, cucumber, grapes and one treat variety so I've got nothing to offer you. I did buy DD a Thermos intending for her to use it for soup but she can't twist the lid off without help so I haven't actually let her use it yet.

MagicHatching · 10/12/2016 19:22

Soup is a great idea! Can she manage it? I'm imagining my DCs would make a horrific mess.

Ham sandwich
Little sausage roll if I'm feeling fancy
Fruit
Yoghurt
