Which Kenwood?

I am looking for a mixer to make cakes, biscuits, bread, icing etc and have whittled it down to these two. Can anyone help me to decide!

This was the first choice

one

but the fact it's stainless steel puts me off as I have a brushed stainless steel cooker hood and I find it difficult to keep clean!

two

This is the other one. I much prefer the retro look, but the bowl is smaller (4 litres rather than 4.3) and the motor is 400 watts rather than 900w.

Can anyone advise!?

Any comments about it, Dame?

I love it! I got it because my grandma had one and it was about 40 years old and she cooked all her own bread and cakes and catered for 100 every month.

I've had mine ten years and still going strong I use it to mix cake, bread, egg whites and cream.

I wouldn't worry about the stainless steel bring difficult to keep clean, it won't be the same as the cooker hood, my friend has one and it's kind of brushed steel so doesn't show finger prints.

Actually I have a Kenwood chef which on closer inspection is a bit different.

Get it, you'll love it Grin

Go for the bigger motor.

I would get this. More expensive, but comes with liquidiser and the oppurtunity to use lots of attachments.
Mine is 20 years old and my Mothers is nearly 50. Both used at least weekly over that time with no issues.

I have the first one which they used to call the Prospero. It's like a mini Chef and I have a food processor for it which I use a lot.
I love it. It's beautifully designed and for the money it is a great piece of kit.
However, it's not particularly sturdy or particularly big for larger quantities and when I can afford it I will be upgrading to the Chef.
If you can afford it and have the space to leave a Chef out on the worktop, get one of those. Otherwise the little one is great.

Oh, BTW, the Prospero is not actual stainless steel, it's plastic with a sort of metal colour coating.
The Chef might be - it's much heavier.

I have a Prospero and I really like it. I don't do tons of baking but whatever I've used it for, it has done well. I've tried bread, meringue, cakes, butter cream etc.
I like the juicer, food processor and blender attachments too.
The bowl guard is a bit annoying as stuff flies out the back but a clean tea towel sorts it.
It's also quite noisy, but doesn't need to be in for long
