GF'ers - why vegetarian tea?

Am I right in thinking its recommended to give babies their meat at lunch and give a vegetarian tea - should this be stuck to and what are the reasons?

DS is fully weaned (9 months)

Hi Becca! How is little harvey doing? gf does say that I think.... something about not having too much protein at night. And also she thinks that if they have a really good lunch with their protein portion in it then you can be a bit more relaxed about what they eat in the evening if they are tired and fussy and will only slurp squished banana... anyway I seem to be doing a veg tea for ds2 even though I don't think I did for the other two, funny that. and I don't even follow gf!

So what is your little man up to? mine discovered crawling last week and has been unstoppable, head down, charging around the place. very sweet. he is so pleased with himself. but found him climbing stairs this morning which was a bummer - thought he was safe roaming around in the hall and now it appears he is a mountaineer. sigh.

I think the theory goes that firstly if baby has main protien meal at lunch you don't need to worry if they fuss over tea due to tiredness, as you know they've had the nutrients required during the day. Secondly too much protien (and fruit) can make some babies do a poo early morning, and so cause early morning waking.
We had this problem with DS1, and I was sceptical, but changing tea to vegetarian, and mainly carbohydrate solved the problem.

Thank you both for the replies - I thought as much but just wanted to check - im in the process of doing a meal plan (!)

PPH - funny you should ask as little Harvey spent 4 days in hospital and has been quite poorly, he got out on Tuesday - after a spell of being poorly he got much worse quickly on saturday - initially hospital suspected meningitis but that was ruled out thank god - he had chest infection, water infection and ear infection, little bugger hasnt eaten or drunk for 10 days so was dehydrated also - we had 4 days of drips, oxygen masks and tube feeding but thankfully he is well on the mend now

[email protected] - drop me an email, would be nice to catch up again
